Survived Another Week

Image
Hey Everyone!! What's up? I hope you are all doing good, for the first time in forever we had a more chill week this week so let's see what went on. We had an amazing conference on Wednesday with Elder Utt, a missionary that works in family history for the church. Because in October it is family history month leading up to Day of the Dead here in Mexico. We learned about how we can use genealogy to find more people to teach, and it was so awesome. And so this week we were running around creating accounts of all our people in teaching and our recent converts in Family Search. We also started teaching Kevin this week, and he is so inspired and desirous to learn more about Jesus Christ and God. He has had a hard past, has been involved with a lot of Drugs, alcohol, and bad mental health. So, he came to church one time with his friends and he noticed a HUGE change in himself when he took the Sacrament, he felt like it got rid of all the pains and afflictions he had previously in h...

I Love Mexico!

Image
Alrighty everyone welcome back to another email! Well as you know, transfers came and went and some changes went down! But it was another AMAZING week and everyday I am learning to love the work of the Lord and learning to love my mission more and more. Ok transfer news: My son Elder McDonough left (which was pretty sad because we left it ALL out on the line here in Refugio) and I received a new companion! His name is Elder Gonzales and he is from Quintana Roo, which is the state of Cancun. It's pretty hype because we lived together when we were in Atlixco, and so we are already pretty good friends. Also, President made some changes in the áreas, and I have been assigned as a Zone Leader here and I am already loving it! This Wednesday we had the baptism of our friend Oscar! He is a young man that first came to church because his friend invited him! His desire was to get closer to God, and by those small and simple steps of reading the Book of Mormon, going to church, and praying ev...

Miracles From Chastening

Image
Hello everyone! That's right! It's time for another email from good ol Refugio. BUT! It is the last week of the transfer! And so next week I could totally be in a different place, but for now let's see what went down this week. So late sunday night we received a text from the AP's and we were going to have a Zone Council which doesn't exist, but then they sent us a talk from Elder Cristofferson about being chastened from the Lord, because that's exactly what happened. So, we had a tough Zone Council where President basically absolutely grilled us for 2 hours about all the struggles we are having in the mission. But I don't want to talk about the chastening, and more about the promise he gave us. He promised us that the miracles would multiply and double and we would be able to see the hand of the Lord in His work more abundantly, and see more children of God make covenants with Him. So we went to work immediately afterwards and had a lesson with Monica. It t...

Buffalo Wild Wings With A General Authority

Image
Hey everyone! Well, this week was a little bit more low key. Nah just kidding that's a lie, I'm pretty much convinced that chill weeks don't exist here on the mission. Anyways, this week we saw illnesses and triumphs, highs and lows, rain... and even more rain but let's just hop into it. Ok first of all we had an awesome Mission Tour this week with Elder Douglas! He is a member of the seventy and we had an awesome half mission wide zone conference with him. We talked a lot about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how we can apply it in our lives as missionaries. He kind of roasted us a little bit, but it was with love... kind of, so it was ok! Then afterwards we had an awesome lunch of Buffalo Wild Wings with him. The mission really does take you to awesome places. I am a missionary for Jesus Christ eating hot wings with a General Authority. It can't get better than that. That night we started exchanges with some other elders in our district, and so we decided to hea...
