I Love Mexico!

Alrighty everyone welcome back to another email! Well as you know, transfers came and went and some changes went down! But it was another AMAZING week and everyday I am learning to love the work of the Lord and learning to love my mission more and more.

Ok transfer news: My son Elder McDonough left (which was pretty sad because we left it ALL out on the line here in Refugio) and I received a new companion! His name is Elder Gonzales and he is from Quintana Roo, which is the state of Cancun. It's pretty hype because we lived together when we were in Atlixco, and so we are already pretty good friends. Also, President made some changes in the áreas, and I have been assigned as a Zone Leader here and I am already loving it!

This Wednesday we had the baptism of our friend Oscar! He is a young man that first came to church because his friend invited him! His desire was to get closer to God, and by those small and simple steps of reading the Book of Mormon, going to church, and praying everyday. He then realized that God has so much more in store for him than he know beforehand. And he knew that baptism was the first step in truly discovering and fulfilling his divine nature as a son of God.

Also, this past week was September 16th, which is the Mexican Independence day!! And let me tell you all it was SO HYPE. Everything was decorated with the Mexican flag, and there was mariachis walking around everywhere, and of course lots of EPIC Mexican food classics.

But on Thursday night, we had a special Mexican night at the church! All the organizations of the church, had a part of the program. It was so awesome, especially the youth did a special dance. Also, we DID THE SHOUT THING. You know like the "¡VIVA MEXICO!" It was also kinda of funny because there was a lot of like cultural things we didn't know how to do, like the procederes and the Mexican and Puebla anthems, but it so was hype. And then afterwards of course we ate a whole bunch of delicious Mexican food.

Also, they made the 2 gringos missionaries do the shout thing, like in the movie Coco. So check down below at the videos for my attempt at a Mexican grito

Yesterday we gave a training to all of our stake priesthood and relief society leaders, and my companion shared a scripture that really impacted me. 2nd Nephi 33:1-2 says,

"And now I, Nephi, cannot write all the things which were taught among my people; neither am I mighty in writing, like unto speaking; for when a man speaketh by the power of the Holy Ghost the power of the Holy Ghost carrieth it unto the hearts of the children of men.

But behold, there are many that harden their hearts against the Holy Spirit, that it hath no place in them; wherefore, they cast many things away which are written and esteem them as things of naught."

As missionaries, church members, teachers, leaders, we all have a specific talk of BRINGING the Holy Spirit to those around us. But each of us have a responsability to LET IT INTO our hearts. The spirit is always present if we allow to it to come into our hearts. But we have to open up our hearts and our minds if we want to aline ourselves to God's will. We have to be willing and also be courageous to follow those actions that come to our mind and our heart. Let God Prevail in your life by following Him, doing what he says, and listening to his chosen servants.

Well, here comes another amazing transfer and I couldn't be more excited for what's coming. I love you all. Thank you for every little email, shoutout, and support you've given me. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for you guys. See you next week!
