Buffalo Wild Wings With A General Authority

Hey everyone! Well, this week was a little bit more low key. Nah just kidding that's a lie, I'm pretty much convinced that chill weeks don't exist here on the mission. Anyways, this week we saw illnesses and triumphs, highs and lows, rain... and even more rain but let's just hop into it.

Ok first of all we had an awesome Mission Tour this week with Elder Douglas! He is a member of the seventy and we had an awesome half mission wide zone conference with him. We talked a lot about the Atonement of Jesus Christ and how we can apply it in our lives as missionaries. He kind of roasted us a little bit, but it was with love... kind of, so it was ok! Then afterwards we had an awesome lunch of Buffalo Wild Wings with him. The mission really does take you to awesome places. I am a missionary for Jesus Christ eating hot wings with a General Authority. It can't get better than that.

That night we started exchanges with some other elders in our district, and so we decided to head out to eat tacos because you know we are in Mexico when we decided to take on a 3 Kilo challenge. (Which measures up to 6.6 pounds of pure glorious taco meat.) AND WE DID IT! BUT! Turns out that was a huge mistake and we pretty much all died (except one elder because he ate nothing basically).

Anyways, the next day we all were feeling terrible and we ended up throwing up so much and we surrendered ourselves to the forces beyond our control and Elder Mcdonough and I threw up so much it was terrible. But the worst part of it was that when I was throwing up in the bathroom, (Literally dying) I heard my temporary companion yell at me from the other room, "Elder Ritchie, Where is the closest Dominos?" Because my man was too weak sauce to eat a dangerous amount of tacos arabes. And so that was a little fun story too. We also had to give a blessing to a sister in the ward and I kid you not also threw up during it too.

Anyways that leads us to Saturday, when we had the baptism of our friend Irma! And it was literally so awesome, even though we weren't feeling that great.

Her story was so cool because she decided to improve her relationship with God after her brother died in a bike accident. The Plan of Salvation gave her a lot of comfort, and really set a foundation for her learning in the church. She also has such a strong testimony of the priesthood too. One day she was feeling very sick and overwhelmed with grief for her brother when the brothers at the church gave her a blessing and the feelings of comfort changed her life!! It was very special to see her make this covenant with God.

I don't have a spiritual thought today, just an invitation. Elder Douglas invited us to draw and write everything that we understood about the Atonement of Jesus Christ on one white piece of paper and then to read 2nd Nephi 2 and Alma 42. Then, in the name of Jesus Christ he promised us that we would begin to grow a stronger testimony of the Atonement and understand it more fully. And that is my invitation for all of you today!! It worked for me and now I have a greater understanding and appreciation for this grand act of love from our Lord and Savior. Then over time, rip this piece of paper into shreds and start over again with a new drawing and you will see your progress.

Well, thats all for this week. Thank you all for everything! Love you guys! Keep going and have an amazing week!
