Tlapa, The Land Of Miracles
Hey everyone!! This week was so awesome, probably one of the most fun weeks I've had in my entire mission! The work goes on, and it's not gonna stop anytime soon!
So this week we had our zone conferences! It was so cool to be able to go to all the zones in the mission to minister and to teach all the missionaries what the Savior has revealed to President and what needs to be done. We talked a lot about the baptismal covenant, and how it is an ordinance of joy and hope! So why in the world would we be scared to teach everyone about baptism?!?!?! I would invite each and every one of you to think about how your life has been blessed and the power you have received by being baptized.
We put that in practice this week and put our friend Marco on date for baptism. We started by reading 3 Nephi 11 and explaining that the Nephites had suffered many trials and pains. They had lost everything. When they knew that the Savior had come, they shouted Hosanna, which means save us!! So, what did Christ do right after?? He taught them about baptism and gave them power to baptize. Marco has a strong desire to be born again and so he accepted a baptism date.
Also, this weekend we went to the farthest place in all of the mission. We were in the car with President and his family for like 7 hours. We visited Tlapa de Comonfort, a branch in the state of Guerrero. We came because President had to reorganize the branch presidency so while he interviewed we went out and taught with the other missionaries. Tlapa is this really big town in the middle of the mountains and there are so many people to teach there! Also, it was Elder Zollinger's birthday so of course I smashed cake in his face.
In the zone conferences we talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and basically I came out of with the same feelings as President Nelson when he said,
"Whenever I hear anyone, including myself, say, “I know the Book of Mormon is true,” I want to exclaim, “That’s nice, but it is not enough!” We need to feel, deep in “the inmost part” of our hearts, that the Book of Mormon is unequivocally the word of God. We must feel it so deeply that we would never want to live even one day without it. I might paraphrase President Brigham Young in saying, “I wish I had the voice of seven thunders to wake up the people” to the truth and power of the Book of Mormon.
I add my testimony that the Book of Mormon changes lives. It has changed mine and I can't go one day without reading it. This book has power and I don't know how I would survive spiritually without it every second of my life. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. Its promises are always fulfilled when we are faithful and we hearken to its precepts. It has deepened my desire to serve the Lord Jesus Christ, and I love sharing its message every day.
