The Spirit Of Revelation
Oh my wow this week was literally one of the Best weeks in my entire mission I loved every second of it. We just saw miracle after miracle and we both just felt the spirit so strongly. Real quick I just want to start with a scripture in Jacob 1:6,
"And we also had many revelations, and the spirit of much prophecy; wherefore, we knew of Christ and his kingdom, which should come."
I have just been so grateful lately for modern day revelations. These revelations from God in these last days for us have brought me so much Joy and happiness. But, more importantly they have taught me about Christ, and how his kingdom works. I have also seen how these revelations about Jesus Christ teach and bless others. And that's what I want to share with you all today.
So we have a couple names Melquiades and Rosaura that live in a tiny town in our area away from Nealtican. This town called Tecaunipan has so much opposition to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and it is so hard to find people willing to teach there. In fact there has never been a convert baptism in this town before. But Melquiades and Rosaura are AWESOME!! They read the Book of Mormon everyday, pray often, they have come to church a few times too. Literally perfect!!
But for some reason they just would not accept a baptismal date. AND WE HAD NO IDEA WHY!!! They literally told us and I quote, "ahhh the gospel has just blessed our lives so much." And so this week I was praying so much to know how to help them. And I received the same answer every time. Go search Preach my Gospel. The answer is in chapter 10 in Preach my Gospel. Preach my Gospel will tell you.
So I did exactly that, and I went crazy studying Preach my Gospel (which is our guide for missionary service and direct revelation from modern day prophets and apostles). And I did receive my answer. So we showed up on Tuesday and we taught a lesson ONLY using inspired questions. And the Spirit was so strong and taught us that they were hesitant because of the opposition from others and from family in their town, and that they weren't married by the law. And so at the end of the lesson we asked them a final question, "Will you follow the example of Jesus Christ by being baptized by someone who has been ordained to perform this ordinance?
And they accepted! So they are going to get married the 15th of March, and baptized the next day!!
Also, this week we had the visit of Elder Soares. And it was AMAZING. Elder Soares and his wife, along with Elder Cook (senior president of the seventy) and his wife, and Elder Douglas (a seventy) and his wife all came and shared messages. It was one of the besting meetings I have ever been to. Like actually amazing. I have never felt the spirit like that except for when I am in the temple.
All the messages were awesome. But I especially loved Elder Soares when he explained to us that as we focus on our objective, we focus our lives on Jesus Christ. And if we focus our lives on Jesus Christ, we will be blessed for the rest of our lives. And I also was really touched by the message of Sister Cook. She said something that impacted me a lot, "Be at peace with your progress." It was so amazing to hear that, and I felt so strongly the love of God. A lot of times with me and maybe you we think that we just aren't gonna be able to make it or do it. We often block ourselves from the Love of God because we're so focused on being perfect or on our faults. But be at peace!! Your doing good enough. Just keep trying. I truly gained a testimony that these people were chosen by God through revelation to lead and guide us. I will never forget that spirit I felt.
To end, I just want to make something clear. With Prophets and apostles, the priesthood and revelations, The Book of Mormon and Temples, Churches and Miracles, Patriarcal Blessings and Prayers, Ordinances and The promise of Eternal Life, we know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is truly the Kingdom of God upon the face of the earth. It is amazing. I have no doubt of that. And it all happens because of modern revelations to God's chosen Leaders. I would like to extend to all of you an invitación that is found in 3 Nephi 29:6,
Yea, wo unto him that shall deny the revelations of the Lord, and that shall say the Lord no longer worketh by revelation, or by prophecy, or by gifts, or by tongues, or by healings, or by the power of the Holy Ghost!
