What The Heck Is The Mission Life
Hey everyone!!! Everytime a week passes in the mission, I start to question everything and how absolutely crazy the mission life is. It was another crazy week!!! We are staying real busy out here and so let's get into it.
So, we've hit the rainy season out here in Good ol Puebla. And so literally every single day it rains and we get soaked!! I am literally so tired of being wet and cold, but whatever the work goes on. It's just like rain jackets, umbrellas, and boots don't work and you just gotta keep truckin through it.
Also, we just got word that all the missionaries in Mexico are getting phones!! Like every missionary will have their own phone, and that is kind of crazy how much the Lord trusts us with technology to forward the work of the Lord. But, it is going to be an awesome opportunity.
So, when we got here, nobody told us that we needed to pay the light bill, and so one day during the night one day they straight up cut the light from us. So then for like a whole day we didn't have any power in the house, so that's fun. And then the next day it turns out that we had to travel all the other way across Puebla to repay it at like 7 in the morning.
And so listen to this crazy story!!! So our area book is full of trash and basically we started visiting some yellow dots in our area book. So we went to visit a dude named Paris Tellez, and so we were kind of just knocking doors to find him and then he turned the corner and signaled us to come over!! And so we did and then the Spirit basically made me feel like, "Hold up, what a minute, something ain't right!!!" And so we entered his house carefully...
And his house basically looked like one of those horror films where it is a sketchy basement with the one light and everything is crusty. And so we sat down on the couch and so he shut the door and then locked it!!! And I was like uhhhh what's happening?? And then he started freaking out and yelled, "YOU GUYS HAVE TO HELP ME SOMEONE IS TRYING TO KILL ME!!!" And I was like no way this dude is going to kill us, that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. And then I heard it. I heard the voice of the spirit say, "get out!" And so I stood up and I was like nope we're going outside to talk about this. And of course my son had no idea what was going on, but we booked it out of there. And so we hurried out and he tried to explain to us that it was a joke to scare us and that he wants to talk about it in our church. So this random taxi pulled up and he wanted to take us to our church to talk but we were like nope we have another person to contact see you later!! I am really grateful for the spirit to warn us about what could have gone down.
Reflecting on this experience, I really truly realized what an important part the Holy Ghost has in our lives. I really thought back on the importance of this short scripture in 1 Nephi 4:6,
"And I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do."
Being able to be led by the spirit is one of the most important ways we can live in this life. Sometimes we don't know what to do, or what we are doing is contrary to the will of the father, and he WILL guide us back to our heavenly home. He loves us perfectly and knows what is best for us, and will protect us with the power of the Holy Ghost. I testify of the power of the Holy Ghost and the importance of conversion, comfort, and aligning our will to the will of the father. I invite you all to act on your impressions of the spirit, and follow through with them. I love you all!! Have an amazing spirit-filled week!!
