The End Of An Era
Wowza. Here we are again at the end of another fabulous transfer here in Puebla. This week was AWESOME. I really understand why it is the best 2 years. I dont know, things just have been clicking lately, so lets just jump into it.
OK so it is the last week of the transfer!! But transfers don't happen until this Friday, and so we dont know if we are staying or leaving until this Wednesday/Thursday. But all of our entire mission is coming to our big transfer meeting this Friday, because next week we are getting a new mission president!! And so this is truly an end of an era, but its gonna be an exciting change. And so stay tuned next week to see if im getting shipped off somewhere or if im staying.
Also, my entire house got sick this week. But i didn't somehow. So basically this week i was the dad to 3 other sick Elders, but it was BAD. All of them throwing up and using the bathroom every 3 minutes. It was pretty sucky because we lost 2 full days of work, but also it was kinda hype to have them rely on me for every need, so it was worth the pain.
Also, we had the baptism of Mario e Irene this week!!! And they actually got married on Friday and then baptized on Saturday!! So we actually did it again actually haha. But it was so much fun because Mario always wears a mexican style shirt called a guayabera. And so for the wedding Elder Pacheco and I bought and wore guayabera!! And of course we too some very drippy photos as his "best men" hahaha.
And the baptism was perfect too. We had so much support from the ward, and everything went perfect. But the thing that touched me the most was the testimony of Irene after the baptism. She didnt want to bear her testimony after the ordinance because "the spirit always beats her" and she cries. But in her testimony, she shared with us some advice her mom gave her to never deny the chance to hear the word of God. And then a few years later, her mom died of cancer. This ripped a hole inside of her heart. Every trial that she had after that, just dug this hole deeper and deeper into her soul she told us. She felt like she had no hope. And thats when she met with the Elders. And then she told us that the gospel of Jesús Christ has filled this hole with never ending happiness. It really just made me think how special the opportunity to be a missionary is, to go out everyday and help people be healed by Christ.
I bear testimony that with the gospel of Jesús Christ, you Will ALWAYS win. Always always always. We will have ups and downs, but we will always conquer and overcome any challenge that comes your way. I recently came across a wonderful scripture in Romans 8: 18 that says,
"18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
We should always live with the end goal in mind. "The glory that shall be revealed in us" is the most highest blessing we can obtain. And so, whatever trial is passing through your life, do NOT let it overcome you and do not sacrifice your eternal reward. Jesus Christ will be there to lift you up. When you are in the lowest of lows, and enduring the storms of life, DO NOT ABANDON SHIP!! With Him, you will always win. Always know your eternal devinity and what is waiting for you in the world to come. And do not sacrifice your greatest blessing for cutting corners in this life.
