We Are The Champions, Hermanitos

Hey Everyone!! I hope this email finds everyone well. This week was absolutely awesome!! And it flew by!! First off I'm gonna give some highlights of the week and then we'll get into it.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Our neighbors and us found a whole bunch of Scorpions in our apartment building!!

- We were able to set a baptismal date for a family that the missionaries have been working with for over 6 months!! They had to get married first and we finally set the date for that!!

- We also may or may not have set a bautismal date for a member who has been inactive for over 40 years.

- We had a Rainstorm yesterday and now the volcano is covered with snow!!

- I had 2 sets of Exchanges this week with my zone leader and district leader

- For P-Day we went to some Waterfalls in our area and it was sooo pretty it actually reminded me of home

Food Review: Alright it has been a while since Ive done a food review, but today I'm gonna review Pambasos. Basically Pambasos are Mexican Sloppy Joes but they are so good. It is this special super soft bread, Meat, onions, avacodoes, lettuce, and some other good things and it gets an 8.4/10.

We also baptized our friend José Luis this Saturday and it was so awesome!!!

His story is so cool. He really struggled with drugs for about 12 years of his life. And about a month ago, he needed and decided to change his life. So, he tried to quit all by himself. But, that rarely works. He needed something more. He needed... God. And so he put himself in contact with the missionaries and we started teaching him our 2nd day here. And the rest is history. The Gospel of Jesús Christ changed his life completely. He is one of the most happy and excited people I have met. He calls everyone Champion and little brother or Sister.

His services were so awesome and like half the ward showed up, and his family too who aren't members and were hoping to put them in teaching as well.

Also, fun fact, I spilled hot sauce on my white shirt like 10 minutes before the baptism so I had to change shirts in order to baptize him.

My spiritual thought week comes from Alma 33:23:

"And now, my brethren, I desire that ye shall plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith. And behold, it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life. And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son. And even all this can ye do if ye will. Amen."

Jose Luis's life was changed by this principle: We can find Joy and have our burdens be lightened through Jesus Christ. We CAN NOT go through this life alone. Our individual plans from our Father In Heaven were not designed that way. The Plan of Salvation was built around Christ. Ive seen it too many times in my mission. People try to go through challenges by themselves. Them they stumble a little bit. Then they fall. And then they give up. Please do not give up, you have everything you need in this life to pass through this life: Jesus Christ.

But how can we do this? What does it mean to involve Christ? It mean praying for Guidance and strength. It means using the atonement and repenting daily and partaking of the sacrament. It means putting the things you have learned about Jesus Christ into action. It means developing your Christlike attributes. That is my invitation to you all. Have an amazing week and I love you all!!
