Attack On Tlaxcalancingo

Hey everyone!! I hope you all had an amazing week!! It was another beautiful and productive week here in Puebla!!

So basically we had an attack in a neighboring area called Tlaxcalancingo.An attack is where our district all goes to an area and for a couple of hours we just talk to everyone, knock every door, and just contact everyone. It was literally so much fun, and it was really good to help out another area find some more people. We also found a lot of possible people and saw a ton of miracles!!

Also, I am really loving my new strategy of contacting that I figured out. It's called "The Dumb American Strategy". So basically I kinda just walk around until we see someone doing something randomly. And then we walk up to then and say something like "Hey were from the United States and we're New here. I dont know anything about Mexico, what are you doing?" And then proceed to talk about all this randomly stuff until we find like a natural way to introduce were missionaries. We've actually gotten so many numbers and a few New people to teach which is awesome!

Alright now it's time for the real adventures. Exchanges with Elder Rosso. So Elder Rosso is famous in the mission because he only eats natural foods like nuts, fruits, vegetables, and insects. Yes, insects. In fact, he loves cockroaches, spiders, and moths. One time a spider bit his eye and he just picked it up and ate it.

So, anyways the morning after exchanges he offered me some and of course, I accepted. I literally wasn't going to let the opportunity pass to eat a cockroach. So he put some in oil to Cook them.

This is when everything went wrong.

So, after a few minutes our house literally filled with smoke. Like literally we couldn't see or breathe, that's how bad it was. Anyways, so then the smoke detector went off and we were just freaking out not knowing what to do. So then I ran outside for some fresh air because I was coughing hard core and like crying because my eyes were so watery.

And that's when I heard it. A loud "WHOOOSH" sound came from the house because Elder Rosso put the boiling, smoking oíl underneath cold water and it exploded and got all over him and gave him like second degrees burns. And then we had to call the president's Wife and tell her what happened so he could get it checked out by a doctor. 

Eventually we cleared the cleared the smoke, took apart the smokes detector so it could stop alarming, and got some help for his burns. But the worst part is that our cockroaches exploded so I won't be able to do a food review on those this week.

Like our coockroaches, we knew we could make a delicious treat to eat, if only we knew HOW to make it. And it is the same with the gospel, we knew we can receive revelation, promised blessings, and joy. But sometimes we don't know HOW to find it. D&C 123:12 says,

"For there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it"

Lucky for us, we DO know where to find it!! And we find it in Jesús Christ. We turn to him in HIS gospel. Things that we don't know how to do, can become clear to us through Him. But we have to put in effort. Regular Prayer, scripture study, church and temple attendance, keeping commandments and covenants, and ultimately living as he lived. The difference between crisp, delicious cockroaches and a house full of smoke is right in front of you, and all you have to do is the things which he has asked us to do. Trust in Him. Remember Him. Love Him. He has given us this gospel so we can FIND THE TRUTH.
