Dios Sabe

For my email this week I only want to share a powerful experience I had.

After lunch with a certain Hermana in our ward, she noticed that my companion was a little sad and down and she asked him what was wrong. He responded, "I miss my family". Then she started talking to us and because she, along with all the other Latinos here in the Motherland, speaks Spanish insanely fast, and I kind of started to space out and started to look around. I looked to the left, and I saw a picture of the Idaho Falls Temple on a mantle in her house!!! That place is so sacred to me and it shocked me to see it. I looked back at her and she said two words to us. "Dios Sabe" which means "God Knows". I have never had the spirit hit me so hard in my entire life in one moment. Afterwards, I understood Every. Single. Word. We are often taught if you want to access the gift of tongues, the spirit has to be present. And that's exactly what happened. She went on to explain to us that we don't need to have fear and God always walks with us. All three of us were in tears at this point because of the powerful spirit present.

And at that moment my entire mission changed. I really was struggling with my companion, and I would often get really frustrated at him. But God knew his circumstances far better than what I did. I was getting frustrated at him for having the exact challenge as I was having: Missing his family during the Holiday season. God knew that I needed to have this experience to have more patience and relate to him more. God knows that I am struggling with the language. God knew that I was missing my family. God knew I needed to have my prayers answered soon. I know that even though we have trials, our prayers are heard and ALWAYS answered.

Elder Holland explains this truth perfect when he says:

"I offer you my apostolic promise that they are heard and they are answered, though perhaps not at the time or in the way we wanted. But they are always answered at the time and in the way an omniscient and eternally compassionate parent should answer them. My beloved brothers and sisters, please understand that He who never sleeps nor slumbers2 cares for the happiness and ultimate exaltation of His children above all else that a divine being has to do. He is pure love, gloriously personified, and Merciful Father is His name."

I testified with every fiber of my being that GOD KNOWS. He is aware of every moment of your life and his literal work is to bring to pass your immortality and your eternal life. He rejoices with every joy you have. He sorrows with every trial you have. But, he also knows what is best for you. God knows your name. He numbers you among his children. And, he knows that this life is difficult at times for every person who walks it. And that is why he gave his only begotten son, and he will hold your right hand and strengthen you, help you, and be there for you.

And if you have any doubts or don't have a testimony of the fact that God Knows you and has a plan for you, get down on your knees and ask him. Today. Ask him if he knows your name. Ask him if he knows who you are. I promise you if you ask with faith and sincerity, the answer you receive will change your life.

Because God Knows.
