Christmas Adventures On The Mish
Hey Everyone!! I hope you all had an absolutely amazing Navidad!!! We had kind of a busy week and our Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were absolutely crazy so let's just jump into it.
Ok so first of all, on Christmas Eve, basically all of the plans that we had ended up being cancelled or falling through so for a majority of the day we had nothing to do. So, we shopped at Walmart for gifts for our district and taught one lesson but in the night is when things got crazy. So, basically we didn't have food or anything so we decided to go downtown and get Little Caesars for dinner haha. And then we had like 20 Pass-a-Long cards to give away and we did that and had some nice street contacts. But we realized that all the buses were done for the night, and it was like 8:45 at night and we couldn't get home... so we walked. We decided to put our credit cards and money in our socks, juuuuuust in case we got robbed. So, we walked for like an hour in the darkness through the sketchy streets of Puebla. It was a Noche Buena to remember that's for sure.
But then Christmas day was amazing!!! We had a devotional at 7 in the morning with our entire mission on a zoom call. We got to wear our pajamas to it too, including our Mission President and his Wife!! Each person in the mission shared a name of Christ and the scripture it came from. I chose "The Messenger of the Covenant" and my companion shared "Our Peace".
Also, our Mission Leaders got us all gifts and they are so cool!! We got Talavera pottery mugs with the name of our mission and first names on it. I'll include a pic down below. Talavera is a special kind of Mexican Pottery that is homemade and Puebla is known for it. Also, since it is homemade, each one is unique in its own way.
Then my companion opened our Christmas gifts that we got from our parents and also had Krispy Kreme donuts that we found the day before in a random Mexican gas station for breakfast. Then we carried on the rest of our day at church and other things.
But probably my favorite part of the day was dinner. So, we went and had dinner with 2 sets of senior missionaries from our ward. One couple is missionaries for the north mission, and the other missionaries are the Head Directors of all Operations for the Puebla Temple!!! It was soooo cool to talk to them about the Temple and what they do. They even showed some top secret photos of the construction of the temple which was so awesome. They have the coolest mission ever. They get to oversee all the construction of the temple, and they also have the special opportunity to teach all of the workers about what they are building and stuff in the Temple, which I think is absolutely awesome. We had dinner, played some games, and we shared some spiritual thoughts. It was literally a perfect Christmas night, and it was great because they all were from the States so we just spoke in English the whole time haha.
So the scripture I would like to share is from 3rd Nephi 1:11-13. It says:
11 And it came to pass that he went out and bowed himself down upon the earth, and cried mightily to his God in behalf of his people, yea, those who were about to be destroyed because of their faith in the tradition of their fathers.
12 And it came to pass that he cried mightily unto the Lord aall that day; and behold, the bvoice of the Lord came unto him, saying:
13 Lift up your head and be of good cheer; for behold, the time is at hand, and on this night shall the asign be given, and on the bmorrow come I into the world, to show unto the world that I will fulfil all that which I have caused to be cspoken by the mouth of my holy prophets.
My spiritual thought today is about Faith. It is always a wake up call to me to think of the Faith the righteous Nephites had, because they were going to be put to death if the sign didn't come. But that didn't matter. They remained Faithful. So, my charge to you all is to remain Faithful even when times get hard. When you are on a boat in the middle of an ocean in a terrible storm, THAT IS NOT THE TIME TO JUMP OUT!!! It is the same with our faith. We need our faith the most when life kicks us around the most to stay anchored. Also, another quick thought from the scripture is that all of the Promises that the prophets make will come to pass. That's all I'm going to say about that, but I encourage you all to ponder about that.
Anyways, that's been pretty much my Christmas Experience. Everyone have a very fun and very epic New Years and I'll talk to you next week!! Love you all!!!
